Suppression of rotor eccentricity of low-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor

In order to reduce the harm of rotor eccentricity on the performance and structural strength of a low-speed permanent magnet motor, a 210 kW low-speed permanent magnet motor was used as the research object to establish an unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) model under rotor eccentricity. Based on the analysis of the model, two suppression measures, auxiliary slot method and turning method, were proposed, and their suppression effects were calculated and analyzed. Firstly, based on the characteristics of static eccentricity and dynamic eccentricity, a study was conducted on opening stator auxiliary slots on the rotor deflection side under static eccentricity and opening rotor auxiliary slots on the rotor deflection side under dynamic eccentricity. The influence of auxiliary slot position, slot height, slot width, and slot number on UMP under eccentricity was calculated and analyzed, and the optimal size parameters of auxiliary slots were found. The suppression effect was also calculated and analyzed. Secondly, the suppression effect of turning method was calculated and analyzed on mixed eccentricity, and the no-load back electromotive force was verified after turning. The results show that using stator auxiliary slots, UMP under static eccentricity was reduced by 49. 8%, using rotor auxiliary slots, UMP under dynamic eccentricity was reduced by 47. 2%, and using turning rotor method, UMP under mixed eccentricity was reduced by 81. 95%, with significant suppression effect. © 2023 Editorial Department of Electric Machines and Control.
