摘要
Waste mask treatment becomes a new challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this work, the meltblown cloth of waste masks were modified via grafting octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) onto hydrophobic membranes with multilevel rough structures. Silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanoparticles were loaded on waste masks by in situ chemical deposition. And then the OTS molecules were grafted onto the surface of SiO2 nanoparticles. The modified membranes exhibit good properties with a water contact angle of 142.5° and carbon tetrachloride flux of 12 224 L.m-2.h-1 under gravity. Our results show that the oil-water separation efficiency of the modified membrane is over 98%. The modified membrane maintains stable performance in acidic, alkaline, salty solvents and ultrasonic environments. This work provides a new green and low-carbon way for the recycling of waste masks. © 2023 Zhejiang University. All rights reserved.
