摘要
We report on laser site selective spectroscopy of a single crystal Y2SiO5 doped with trivalent samarium ions. For crystals having a dopant concentration of 0.5 molar percent, energy is observed to be exchanged between ions occupying sites of the same local configuration (intra-site transfer) and between ions occupying sites of different ‘local symmetry’ (inter-site transfer). The inter-ionic cross relaxation is inferred to occur via a dipole–dipole mechanism. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.
