A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)method was developed for the determination of sulfur in black powder. The extraction solvent,injection port temperature and ramp-up procedure were optimized. The linearity was excellent in the concentration range of 5-50 μµg/mL,and the detection limit was 0.65 μµg/mL. The spiked recoveries were 92.4%-102.7% with the relative standard deviation of 1.4%. The black powder residues after explosion were identified by GC-MS, and different black powder samples were distinguished according to the content of sulphur. © 2022, Youke Publishing Co.,Ltd.
