摘要
By-products from metallurgical industry such as slags, dust, and sludges still represent a resource which is underestimated way too much. High metal contents and the presence of different valuable components would allow a multi metal recycling and with these reduced amounts of residues, in best case a zero waste solution. Yet, missing knowhow in the fields of characterization and possible process technology causes an only weak utilization of such materials. An interdisciplinary network at the University of Leoben together with national and international partners from industry develop certification strategies which in future should allow a clear assessment of the potential of different by-products for metal recovery. © 2020, Austrian Society for Metallurgy of Metals (ASMET) and Bergmännischer Verband Österreich (BVÖ).
