摘要
In order to realize the dual detections of the identity and dampness information of logistical package, this paper presents a new type of low-cost chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) humidity sensor. The electric-LC resonator (ELC resonator) was used as the humidity sensor to monitor the relative humidity of the target environment and the U-ring resonator was used as the chipless encoding structure to recognize the target identity. The relationship between the structural parameters of the U-ring resonator and the resonant frequency was studied using the HFSS RF simulation software. Corresponding fitting formulas were obtained to provide the theoretical basis for the structural parameter design. On this basis, an 8-bit encoding structure was designed. The effects of the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solutions with different mass fractions on the humidity sensing sensitivity and measurement range of the humidity sensor were studied systematically. An 8-bit chipless RFID humidity sensor was developed. The effective electromagnetic parameters of U-ring resonator were obtained with the scattering parameter extraction method, which shows that it has metamaterial property. The chipless RFID humidity sensor studied in this paper has the advantages of high humidity sensing sensitivity, large encoding capacity and simple structure, and it is expected to be applied in the field of smart packaging. © 2019, Science Press.
