摘要
Self-healing materials have attracted more attentions over the past two decades. It is a challenge to prepare a polymer composite with both shape memory and self-healing properties. Herein, a healing agent glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) was loaded into the pores of mesoporous material SBA-15 (MS@GMA), then shape memory epoxy polymers composites (SMPC) with self-healing properties were prepared by adding SBA-15@GMA into hydrogenated bisphenol A epoxy resin and polyether amine. When the microcracks of the composites generated during application, GMA was released via capillary force which was initiated by initiator embedded in the composite, and then the polymerization occurred in the presence of reducing agent to heal the microcracks. SMPC was characterized by electronic universal testing machine and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The properties of fracture toughness and shape memory were tested by single edge notch beam and U-type shape memory tests, respectively. The self-healing was also confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The SMPC exhibits good healing performance in the presence of 4% SBA-15 with GMA, and the modification of SBA-15 by silane coupling agent improves the compatibility with polymer matrix, thus increases the mechanical, shape memory and self-healing properties of the composite, the healing efficiency reaches 68%. The SMPC maintains the better shape recovery ratio after being subjected to the cycle test. © 2021, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering. All right reserved.
