摘要
Women who suffer domestic violence are trapped in the abusive relationship for a number of reasons that relate to socio-cultural and economic rationalisation. Divorce is not always considered an option for many sufferers; hence, they suffer in silence. Against this background, this study explores ten cases of women in abusive relationships to determine the incidence of violence against women (VAW) in Nigeria. Through the application of the exit, voice, loyalty framework, the form, causes, effects, and management of violence against women are appraised to determine the agency of victims. Entrepreneurship is found to be an effective response agency that ameliorates the empowerment situation of victims.
