摘要
This study examines the sustainable development approaches implemented by global trade fair organizers (TFOs). Six TFOs, including venue- and non-venue-bound organizers, were selected based on their revenue rankings. This study considers the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability as major categories and segments them into 12 detailed items. The results indicate that most of the TFOs under study have a strong track record of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. However, strategies differ depending on TFOs' venue ownership. Non-venue-bound organizers focus on policies that can be implemented during events, whereas venue-bound organizers are likely to adopt strategies within the venue. This study has both theoretical and practical implications for TFOs striving to achieve global competitiveness by adopting sustainability strategies. This study contributes to the literature by considering comprehensive sustainability dimensions and provides insights for further research and policy development in the exhibition industry.
