Autocracy Between Democratic Society and Democratic Government. Introduction

This introduction presents the articles of this special issue on democracy and autocracy, to explore how the contemporary push toward a more inclusive society of equals has been met with innovative strategies of autocratic power. Once again, we face the pressing question: how may our democratic societies combat autocracy by ensuring that we govern themselves democratically?
