摘要：
The horror of war and the fear it instills are not alien experiences to the human condition, but it is possible to learn from them to avoid the mistakes of the past and thus obtain answers for the present. This paper addresses the rationalization and institutionalization of fear to ensure the continuity of peaceful coexistence in the political-theological proposal of Hobbes' Leviathan as a response to the "disorders of the present time" (Hobbes, 2017, p.586) of the English civil war from what is exposed particularly in the first half of that work.
