摘要
People with mental illnesses in Bolivian prisons are a critical case that requires urgent attention. These people often end up in the prison system, due to the lack of psychiatric inpatient services in the justice system. Throughout this article, the following points will be explored: Inability of the justice system to address the mental illness of those who committed a crime, this is due to a lack of resources and trained personnel in the Bolivian judicial system; challenges to identifying and treating mental disorders during the criminal process and the negative impact of prison conditions on mental health. Likewise, the article seeks to shed light on the current situation, highlighting the urgent need for reforms in the Bolivian justice system to ensure adequate and humane treatment for people with mental illnesses instead of imprisonment.
