Sight translation in Spanish for Specific Purposes teaching: an experience based on trade fair marketing

Linguistic mediation has gained an increased presence in language classrooms thanks, among other reasons, to the publication of the Companion Volume of the MECR in 2021. In this regard, the article presents the results of a teaching proposal that exploits the potential of sight translation, carried out with university students in an Italian-speaking environment. The general goal of the teaching experience is to introduce students of Spanish for Specific Purposes in the field of trade fair marketing through sight translation. This type of mediation is likely to benefit students' language learning process beyond the professional field of interpreting. Therefore, the article sets forth the teaching proposal carried out with university students, as well as a quantitative analysis resulting from the aforementioned experience.
