摘要
We are delighted to serve as guest editors for this special issue in the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. The purpose of this special issue is dedicated to gathering the latest research work on Multiscale & Multifield Coupling in Geomechanics, where we delve into the intricate interplay of various fields and scales that govern the behavior of geomaterials. In total, 30 United Arab Emirates are selected to be included in this issue. Geomechanical processes seldom operate in isolation; instead, they often involve the simultaneous interaction of multiple physical phenomena. From the coupled effects of stress and pore fluid pressure to the interplay between mechanical and chemical processes, geomechanics necessitates a multidisciplinary approach to unravel the intricacies of these interconnected systems. For instance, the carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen geological storage as well as their long-term stability analysis, the exploitation of methane hydrates and associated sanding issue, and the hydraulic fracturing stimulation of geothermal and oil exploitation are typical and cutting-edge research topics in geotechnical engineering. They all involve the multifield, such as solid soil/rock, liquid/gas, heat in geomechanics. the pressure gradient.
