Evaluation of the Survey of the Commission for Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Implants for 2023 Cataract Commission of the Austrian Ophthalmological Society

HintergrundAuch im Jahr 2023 wurde die j & auml;hrliche Umfrage durch die & Ouml;OG-Kommission f & uuml;r Kataraktchirurgie und intraokulare Implantate unter den & ouml;sterreichischen Augenabteilungen durchgef & uuml;hrt. Material und MethodenDie Umfrage zu den Trends in der Kataraktchirurgie erfolgte mit Hilfe anonymer schriftlicher Frageb & ouml;gen, welche alternativ auch per Online-Formular anonym ausgef & uuml;llt werden konnten. Die Teilnahme an der Umfrage ist freiwillig. Dies ist bei der Interpretation der Ergebnisse zu ber & uuml;cksichtigen. Es erfolgte eine statistische Auswertung der aktuellen Frageb & ouml;gen, die mit den Ergebnissen der Vorjahre verglichen wurden. ErgebnisseDie Angaben von 15 Operationszentren mit insgesamt 152 Operateuren werden hier vorgestellt und mit den Ergebnissen der Vorjahre verglichen. Die Teilnehmerquote lag mit 60 % niedriger als im vergangenen Jahr. Insgesamt wurden 56.641 Kataraktoperationen erfasst. Es zeigt sich, dass die tagesklinischen Eingriffe im Vergleich zum Vorjahr wieder gestiegen sind. BackgroundEvery year the Austrian Ophthalmological Society (& Ouml;OG) Commission for Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Implants conducts a national survey of all eye surgery departments in Austria. Material and MethodsQuestionnaires were sent to departments of ophthalmology in Austria and were anonymously returned either in print format or via an online form. Participation in the survey was voluntary. A statistical evaluation of the questionnaires was carried out and the results were compared with the data of previous years. ResultsThe responses of 15 departments of ophthalmology with a total of 152 surgeons are presented in this publication and combined with data from previous years. The participation rate was 60% (lower than last year), with a total of 56,641 cataract surgeries reported. The results show that cataract surgeries in day clinics have increased again compared with the previous year.
