Andalusian Notarial Documents in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries: Elements of Diplomatic Discourse

The aim of this work is to set out in a clear and organised way the diplomatic scheme of notarial documents in the Modern Age, analysing the possible variants that existed in terms of the form of these public instruments, explaining the formulas used in each case and defining and contextualising all the clauses that were included as a guarantee of the correct fulfilment of the content of the contract. Our aim is to provide the reader with a proper understanding of the notarial deeds, enabling them to identify the different sections of the text and to understand the reasons why they were there. To this end, we have based ourselves on a wide sample of notarial documents drawn up in Seville in the 16th century, as well as protocols from C & aacute;diz corresponding to the 17th century.
