PREDICTING OF WATER BREAKTHROUGH TIME INTO THE WELL ON PRESSURE BUILD-UP CURVES

The study examines the bottom-hole pressure build-up mechanism in a flat-radial oil reservoir. An analytical solution is presented for the issue of bottom-hole pressure buildup during water displacement of oil in a flat-radial reservoir with non-instantaneous inflow cessation. The results show that the shape of pressure build-up curves is significantly affected by moving the water-oil contact closer to the producing well. The numerical assessment showed that the equations developed in the study had good agreement with both experimental and field data. We have derived an equation to estimate the time of water breakthrough in the producing well.
