IEEE PELS Orange County Chapter Hosts Successful Debut Event

On 28 February, the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Orange County Chapter hosted its first presentation in collaboration with IEEE at the University of California, Irvine. The presentation had the topic "SMART Power Flow Controllers: A Necessity for Future Power Grids" and was given by Dr. Kalyan Sen (Figure 1). During the presentation, Dr. Sen explained how these controllers optimize existing transmission lines and ensure that future grids operate efficiently. A discussion between Dr. Sen and the over 20 attendees followed the presentation.
