摘要
Thermal spraying is a technology that effectively forms a coating on the surface of a material by spraying molten metal particles. The authors have been studying the use of thick sprayed coatings for repair and reinforcement of steel structures. The purpose of this study is to experimentally understand the mechanical properties of the sprayed coating as basic research on its application to construction. As a result of conventional tensile and compressive tests, it was found that the tensile strength of the sprayed metal was much smaller than that of the base metal. On the other hand, under compressive stress, the strength was equal to or greater than that of the base metal. These results indicate that the coating formed by build-up spraying can be expected to be a load sharing material under compressive stress.
