摘要
In this article, I explore the notion of catholicity in relation to the meaning of humanity in two different models. I begin with a section on the need for a new concept of catholicity. The late Catholic theologian Robert J. Schreiter reminded us of this need to face the pressing challenges of globalization today. Then, I suggest that a future concept of catholicity should be more theologically grounded in the qualitative sense than Schreiter's proposed globalized model. My argument is that we can find a helpful concept of catholicity in the qualitative model of Anglican theologian Rowan Williams. His approach draws on different theologians in the twentieth century who clarified catholicitys ' qualitative sense and its strict relation to anthropology. Most of the paper will be dedicated to Williams' qualitative sense of catholicity as the wholeness of truth. In the next section, I will present three features of Williams' understanding of catholicity as personalist, paradoxical, and Christological. Finally, I will show some of the practical implications of Williams' reflections.
