The April 1964 coup and why dates matter

Problematizing the political relevance of historical dates, this article returns to the dilema of what is the exact day of the 1964 coup d'etat: March 31st or April 1st ? He argues that although the military coup movement began on the morning of March 31st , it was Only on April 1st that the success of the coup was confirmed. Until the 1st, there were conditions for resistance that, for various reasons, were wasted by the federal government and its supporters.
