摘要：
In 1896 the Kingdom of Hungary celebrated the millennium of its conquest of the Carpathian Basin with a grand fair, modelled after the universal exhibitions and held in V & aacute;rosliget Park. The event marked the peak of the Hungarian Boldog Bekeid o k, meaning the economic development achieved by the Hungarian half of the Habsburg territories. However, the country was not without contradictions: social turmoil stemming from rapid industrialization and the issue of national minorities.
