摘要
Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health emergency, and for the last century, the medical world has been struggling with multiple resistance or even lack of sensitivity to antibiotics to the latest generation. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a microorganism that shows a high degree of resistance and a high potential for causing death when it infects the wounds of burn patients due to its ability to acquire resistance to a wide range of antibiotics. That's why in-depth research on the sensitivity to antimicrobials of this opportunistic pathogen, especially in the burned patient, can bring new data to help clinicians in managing the treatment. The present study was made on 16 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn wounds and followed the analysis of the antimicrobial susceptibility by phenotypic and molecular methods. The result of the study shows a high level of resistance to antibiotics among investigated Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. However, cefiderocol is a promising therapeutic option, 93.75% of analysed strains were susceptible to it. Also, imipenem-relebactam seems to be a good option for patients with carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa lacking Ambler Class B carbapenemases. In this study, 5 out of 16 strains were susceptible to imipenem-relebactam. The obtained data are useful in the context of the existence of a small amount of information regarding antimicrobial resistance in burn patients in Romania.
