Structure Characteristics and Robustness Analysis of Multi-Layer Network of High Speed Railway and Ordinary Railway

The structure and function of multi-layer networks is an important direction of complex network research in recent years. According to the 2016 Chinese train timetable, this paper extracts 453 high speed stations and 2293 lower speed stations as the research object. Based on complex network theory, multi-layer network of high speed railway and ordinary railway is built and the topological properties of higher-speed railway network, lower-speed railway network and multi-layer railway network are analyzed. In the end, using the size of largest component we research the reliability of the three networks, the results imply that the robustness of the multi-layer network is between higher-speed railway network and lower-speed railway network. These results provide new references for the empirical study of multi-layer network and optimizing the traffic network. © 2019, Editorial Board of Journal of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
