摘要
Peritectic characteristics during the simulated solidification of EH36 shipbuilding steel welds employing a confocal scanning laser microscope have been documented in situ. The initial delta solidifies from the liquid in a cellular/dendritic manner, with a substantial peritectic undercooling of 113.5 +/- 13.9 degrees C. The solid-liquid interface velocity undergoes an abrupt increase at the onset of peritectic transition. Furthermore, the rapid delta -> gamma phase transformation is attributed to the massive transformation enabled by the large driving force.
