Fault diagnosis of excitation winding inter-turn short circuit of nuclear power half speed turbo-generator based on stator double coils

Failure to find excitation winding inter-turn short circuit fault in large turbo-generator in time will probably cause the fault enlargement. The outage of turbo-generator will cause great economic losses. This paper analyses the magnetic field characteristics of the excitation winding inter-turn short circuit fault of the turbo-generator. Combined with the structure characteristics of the stator core, two detection coils were installed at the top of two stator core teeth with one pole apart from each other. The frequency domain and time domain characteristics of the induction voltage of the detection coils were extracted. The excitation winding inter-turn short circuit was diagnosed by the fractional harmonics of the induced voltage generated in detection coils. With a 1 150 MW half speed turbo-generator, the simulation verification was completed. It proves that the double coils method can realize the online fault diagnosis without the influence of the operation state of the generator, and locate the fault accurately. © 2019, Harbin University of Science and Technology Publication.
