Robust multifunctional coatings with omniphobic and antistatic properties to repel liquids and solid particles

摘要
Multifunctional transparent surfaces, exhibiting omniphobic and antistatic properties to mitigate contamination with both liquids and dust, are reported. The intrinsic electrical conductivity of Laponite (Lap) nanoparticles is combined with the low surface free energy of the perfluoropolyether (PFPE) S10. Lap nanoparticles are functionalized by grafting the PFPE, yielding different S10/Lap ratios. At optimal coating, contact angle values of 114 degrees and 67 degrees are reached for water and hexadecane, respectively, as well as a sheet resistance on the order of 108 Omega/square. Additionally, an excellent ability to repel liquids and reduce the adhesion of dust particles is observed. The mechanical stability of coatings against abrasion is also demonstrated.
