Synergistic Properties of Sulfur- and Phosphorus-Free Organic Molybdenum as Antioxidant With Amine Additives

The sulfur- and phosphorus-free organic molybdenum was synthesized from soybean oil, diethanolamine and molybdenum trioxide. The antioxidant synergy of sulfur- and phosphorus-free organic molybdenum compounds (ME) and amine antioxidant in poly α-olefin (PAO) was evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thin micro oxidation test (TMOT). The oxidative degree of base oil and the content of DODPA in different oxidative time were analyzed by FTIR and GC/MS. It was found that ME shows good antioxidant collaborative performance with diphenylamine (DBN), p,p'-dioctyldiphenylamine (DODPA) and phenyl-α-naphthylamine (PNA). Among them, ME and DODPA have the best synergistic effect, which can effectively reduce the mass loss of the oil sample and inhibit the formation of deposits. GC/MS analysis showed that ME could reduce the consumption rate of DODPA and extend its anti-oxidation time, which showed good antioxidant synergy. © 2019, Editorial Office of Acta Petrolei Sinica(Petroleum Processing Section).
