<正> The study of the generator coordinate method is extended to nuclear systems consisting ofparticles, holes and non-collective particle-hole pairs outside the core. With generator coor-dinate method the collective degrees of freedom of the core are singled out. It is found thatsuch collective properties of the core in turn determine the nature of the mean potential inwhich single particle moves, and the mutual influence between single particle and collectivemotion is exhibited in the coupling term of the effective Hamiltonian. In this way, the resultsof "nuclear field theory" are obtained for spherical nuclei and those of particle-rotor modelare obtained for deformed nuclei.
