摘要
The effect of silicate in the electrolyte solution in a chlor-alkali cell on a fluorocarbon ionomer, Nafion(R) 901, was studied. Calcium silicate precipitated and damaged the membrane during electrolysis when the anolyte and/or the catholyte was contaminated with Ca2+ and Mg2+. The service lifetime of the membrane was thus shortened greatly.
