A TRAP DESIGN FOR COMBINED INSECT EMERGENCE AND SOIL ARTHROPOD EXTRACTION FROM SOIL

For insect sampling on large-scale field experiments or sites situated in difficult terrain, e.g. woodlands, it may be desirable to use techniques that allow more than one operation to be carried out simultaneously. Equipment should be lightweight, durable, easy to construct from readily available materials, and allow easy retrieval, transportation, and processing of samples. The following trap design attempts to combine the monitoring of insect emergence, with the extraction of soil arthropods from the same soil sample.
