Experiments were carried out on 15% wet cement raw meal in the thermal analysis equipment under non-isothermal conditions in order to determine the kinetic parameters of calcination. The results of thermogravimetry were analysed using Zsako's method for simultaneous determination of the kinetic parameters, namely the order of reaction, frequency factor in the Arrhenius equation and the activation energy. The calcination reaction was found to be first order and the activation energy varied between 54.2 to 44.4 kcal/mole when the rate of heating was changed between 10 to 25-degrees-C/min. The variation in the rate constant, calculated using these parameters, did not show a trend. The phenomenon is explained of the basis of kinetic compensation effect.
