摘要：

In the information society of the 21st century, great volumes of diverse information will be disseminated through various media. This vast and complex information exchange will require advanced telecommunication systems for accurate and efficient processing of information. Such systems must perform flawlessly and transparently within our day-to-day lives. Addressing the challenge of future telecommunication system development in Japan is the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR-I).
