Historiosophical reflections from Jan Matejko's journey round the towns of Galicia

The article concerns the drawings which interpret the architecture of selected cities in Galicia made by Jan Matejko in the last decades of the the 19th century. The author draws the attention to the differences between the early, Realist interpretations of the towns of western Galicia and the later, historiosophical ones, made in the towns of the eastern borderlands, which were associated with prominent figures and famous events in the history of the former Kingdom of Poland.
