CRUMPLED SELF-AVOIDING TETHERED SURFACES

摘要
Monte Carlo simulations of flexible self-avoiding surfaces with free boundaries are reported. The model surface consists of impenetrable flexible triangular plaquettes. Unlike recent results obtained from simulations of hard-sphere membrane model exhibiting a rough phase, plaquette membranes are crumpled. The radius of gyration R scales with the surface area A according to R2 approximately A0.81, in agreement with mean-field predictions and recent experimental results.
