The translation now presented is the first piece of a study made by the Spanish neothomist Santiago Maria Ramirez, O.P. who exposes the doctrinal value of Saint Thomas Aquinas' work. In order to do so, he distinguishes scientific authority from canonical authority, which relies exclusively upon Church recognition, presenting documentary and historical testimonies from Saint Thomas' death (1274) to Leo XIII's enthronement (1878).
