The research deals with the Protestant theological trends that marked the genesis of Latin American Liberation Theology. Among the most outstanding results of the research are the theological aspects emphasized by Protestant circles in the context of Liberation Theology such as Christian social responsibility, the ecumenical perspective, the primacy of grace, prophetic criticism regarding idolatrous forms in the socio-political and economic field and the ecclesiology of communion and service. Methodologically, we systematize the questions in a board whose description is organized in two moments. The first of these focus the contribution of the first generation of liberation theologians, with they're corresponding social and ecumenical practices, especially Jose Miguez-Bonino, Julio de Santa Ana and Rubem Alves. In the second moment, we will emphasize the feminist theology of Elza Tamez and Marcella Althaus-Reid, that was configured in the following decades. The main dimensions of this production will be highlighted by biblical criticism of political economy and the theme of justification by faith, dear to the Protestant theological tradition, and by the reflection on human sexuality, always hidden from theological debates.
