When twenty thousand people gathered on Dam Square on the day of [Theo] Van Gogh's murder to demonstrate their anger, Aboutaleb was one of only a handful of Muslims. This was a disappointment to him. "Even though they might have found Van Gogh an asshole," he says, "they should have been there to defend the rule of law."(1)
