INFLUENCE OF THE INFORMATION-SYSTEM ON INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

The author analyses the influence of information on inventory management in an EDP environment. An automated information system providing information about anhand inventories in the warehouses of a trading firm and its customers and regulating deliveries from the supplier's warehouse is presented. Possibilities of using inventory norms or standards and ways of decreasing the impact of incomplete data are discussed, as well as the extension of the use of such systems to a national system to improve governmental management of material supply. © 1990.
