EFFECT BACKING ON VIBRATIONAL AMPLITUDE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMIC TRANSDUCER

摘要
Studies are reported on the effect of different backing materials on transducer response through the measurement of vibrational amplitude pattern and its distribution over the radiating surface of a resonating piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) transducer. Measurements have been carried out using phase-locked laser interferometer where the effect of a backing layer on the acoustical property is manifested through some variation in vibrational patterns. Results of these studies are compared with those obtained from acoustical output and waveform measurements on the backed transducers.
