The paper aims to present to the research community the fond that contains the documents of the Sociedad de Beneficencia, the Defensoria de Menores and other state institutions throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These agencies have taken care of the lives of children "homeless" in the City of Buenos Aires
