OCCULT SYMBOLISM AS A MODERN SOCIAL-PATHOLOGICAL PHENOMENON IN SOCIETY AND FAMILY

The present paper reflects on the contemporary phenomenon of modern occult symbolism in the current society and family, as well as on its influence on people. This issue was researched especially among the youth aged 15 to 18. Often, educational institutions, elementary schools, high schools, churches, as well as counseling centers of various professional specializations that are active in Slovakia are not able to take a flexible stand on the issues of and possible solutions for the presence and influence of modern occult symbolism on the youth. The paper shows the results of brief empirical explorations aimed at the expressions of occultism and Satanism among young people, processed in 2009 - 2010. The paper also includes counseling with a spiritual-religious overlap as a possible means of prevention, as well as recommended suggestions for practically dealing with the issue in question.
