INFLUENCE OF PARENT MATERIALS ON THE DIFFERENTIATION OF SOILS AND OF THE SOIL MANTLE OF THE NORTHERN VOLGA UPLAND

Detailed morphological and analytical investigations of Gray Forest soils and of a podzolized Chernozem in the northern Volga Hills were used to determine the set of elementary soil processes (ESP) responsible for the soil profiles, and their differences depending on the character of the parent materials were recorded. The regional characteristics of the soils and soil mantle of the territory arc described by comparison with soils of the Central Russian Upland.
