Foliage from 25 ''Golden Delicious'' [apple] orchards was analyzed for B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn. None of the nutrients was present in excessive quantities and the concentrations of B, Cu and Fe were satisfactory. A general problem of low levels of Zn was found (at least 80% of all samples) while a small proportion of samples was low in Mn. Relevant orchards were classified as marginal in these nutrients. The most likely cause of the Zn condition was excess application of P fertilizers.
