摘要
Low loss fluorozirco-aluminate glass fiber has been developed using improved glass preparation and preform fabrication techniques. A minimum loss of < 0.01 dB/m near 2.5 mum and a loss of < 0.1 dB/m at 2.94 mum have been achieved. Fibers with 440 mum core diameter and 500 mum clad diameter have a minimum bending radius of 25 mm and a damage threshold of > 80 kW/mm2 input power density. The fibers are potentially useful for Er:YAG laser power delivery and other infrared applications.
