HIGH-PERFORMANCE THIN-FILM RESISTORS AND NETWORKS

Investigation of the manufacture, trimming and environmental stability of thin-film nichrome resistors has shown them to have very high performance. The resistance values, ranging from 70 OMEGA to 180 k OMEGA , are suitable for a wide range of applications from dc to microwave, including analog to digital and digital to analog converter networks. A new analysis of the tolerance requirements of such networks has been made, and it is predicted that a resolution of between 12 and 14 bits should be possible using existing techniques.
