The emission spectrum of the CS+ B2SIGMA+-X2SIGMA+ transition has been recorded on photographic plates in the spectral interval 2300-3300 angstrom, using a new emission source in which linear beams of CS radicals and He* metastables collide. Ten B-X bands were observed and a rotational analysis was performed for 6 of them, leading to new values for the vibronic constants of the B state as well as to the first determination of its rotational constants. Many vibrational and rotational perturbations occur for which a discussion is given about the nature of the possible perturbing levels. The internal consistency of the dissociation energies and the agreement of the results with those obtained from photoelectron spectroscopy were also verified. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
