STRESS AROUND AN ELLIPTIC CRACK IN AN ELASTIC PLATE

This paper deals with the three-dimensional stress analysis of the stress distribution in a plate of finite thickness containing an embedded elliptical crack, when the surfaces of the plate are subjected to a uniform displacement. The surface of the crack is assumed to be parallel to that of the plate, and the crack is located on the central plane of the plate. By using a double Fourier transform, the problem is reduced to the solution of an integral equation.
