摘要：
A procedure is described for designing a long-range, high-speed vehicle integrating airframe and propulsion components. As envisioned here, the process involves the following steps: 1) establish performance criteria, 2) vary engine and airframe parameters to optimize performance, and 3) find a configuration that fits these desired parameters. In this paper, an approximate analysis of scramjet or ramjet engine performance is developed and coupled with appropriate airframe parameters. An example is provided to show how the procedure could be applied to the preliminary design of a scramjet-powered missile that cruises at March number 6.
