THERMOPHORESIS IN GASES AT SMALL KNUDSEN NUMBERS

(Instruments and methods of investigation). It presents the analysis of theoretical and experimental papers concerning the state of thermophoresis in gases at small Knudsen numbers (relatively to body dimention). The known modifications of thermophoresis theories are linear approximations to the Knudsen number and the zero approximation being the Epstein result. The analysis of experimental data on high heat conducting aerosols reveals the fact that non of the published experiments satisfies the conditions for a correct comparison with theory. The experimental results for low heat conducting aerosols (bodies) are also unsatisfied. It presents the original method of thermophoresis investigation in gases.
